A mine warfare exercise that is wrapping up soon in the Arabian Gulf has allowed the Navy to get its first glimpse of how it would use the new interim afloat forward staging base (AFSB), the former amphibious ship Ponce (LPD-15), as well as a range of other operations in real-world situations, the Navy's top admiral said last week.
