The Royal Treatment

The United Kingdom's Royal Air Force (RAF) on Oct. 26 will stand up a new intelligence squadron of five MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aircraft at an RAF base near Waddington, Lincolnshire, according to Air Force spokeswoman Maj. Mary Danner-Jones. The squadron will be manned solely by RAF airmen, she said. The Reapers will be used to monitor activity in Afghanistan in support of the RAF and its coalition partners, a British Embassy spokesman said. The RAF already operates one Reaper squadron out of Creech Air Force Base in Nevada.
