Benedict: Navy In Midst Of Long-Term Effort To Sustain Trident D5 Missiles
The Navy is in the midst of a program to update and sustain
Trident II D5 nuclear-tipped ballistic missiles for more than 30 years in order
to serve both the current Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine (SSBN) fleet
and its replacement over the next few decades, Rear Adm. Terry Benedict,
director of strategic systems programs (SSP), said last week.
