Under New Management

The Navy has established a new program executive office to oversee the planning and procurement of John F. Kennedy (CVN-79) and follow-on Gerald Ford-class aircraft carriers, Naval Sea Systems Command said in a July 27 statement. Capt. Doug Oglesby will lead the new program office, PMS-379. The future carriers program office, PMS-378, will oversee only the Gerald Ford (CVN-78). The move will allow the program to begin continuous production while ensuring CVN-78 completes construction and delivery, according to the statement. When the Ford is finished, the programs will merge back together.
