Are We There Yet?

The Army's Nett Warrior program still has a way to go before becoming useful to soldiers. At least that's according to John Clements, a capability developer at the service's Maneuver Center of Excellence. "In my opinion, the technology just isn't there," Clements said at an industry conference in Alexandria, VA, last week. "We get jaded here in the U.S. where we are all in the network . . . but it doesn't exist in Afghanistan. To recreate the network that we have here and make it mobile so that you can deploy it to some area of contingent operations is a huge endeavor, and not to mention [making] it secure."
