Appropriations defense subcommittee plans to mark up its fiscal year 2013
defense spending bill on July 31, according to a committee schedule published
on the Senate website. The panel is the last of the four congressional defense
oversight committees to do so. The mark-up is key for supporters of the Medium
Extended Air Defense System, which has been canceled in the bills of the three
other committees. It was unknown at press time (July 27) whether or not the Senate
defense appropriators' session would be open to the public.
