United States - Republic of Korea Security Consultative Meeting was held
Wednesday in Washington. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and ROK Minister of
National Defense Kim Kwan Jin led their respective delegations, which included
senior defense and foreign affairs officials. The focus of much of the
discussions was North Korea, Panetta told reporters. He also cited increased
bilateral cooperation on cybersecurity and space. "Today Minister Kim and I
affirm that this alliance will remain a cornerstone of stability in Northeast
Asia into the future," Panetta said.
