What is the InsideDefense NewsStand?

The NewsStand allows anyone with a credit card and Internet access to purchase hard-to-find national security documents and news articles. News articles are text files only. Documents are text files as well as Adobe Acrobat (PDF) files and Microsoft PowerPoint (PPT) files.

Note: To view the PDF documents, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader which can be downloaded for free from the Adobe website. To view the PowerPoint files, you will need a PowerPoint viewer which can be downloaded for free from the Microsoft website.

Where does the content of the NewsStand come from?

The articles are written and the documents are collected by the award-winning editorial team that produces the Inside the Pentagon family of defense newsletters and InsideDefense.com, the best online news service for defense professionals.

What do articles and documents cost?

Unless otherwise noted, recently posted individual articles and documents cost $10.00 each. After seven days the cost reverts to $5. The number of words identifies the length of each article for sale. Each document housed in the NewsStand is clearly described so you'll know what you are buying. Individual issues of the Inside the Pentagon newsletters may be purchased for $25, and are not subject to the one-free download promotion.

What do I do after purchasing an article or document?

You can print the news and information you've purchased, or save it on your computer.

How long will I have access to the material I purchase?

You will have access to the purchased materials for 30 days. We suggest however that you save or print purchased articles and documents to insure continued access.

After I've purchased an article or document, am I allowed to reproduce or redistribute that material?

No. The NewsStand's terms and conditions prohibit the reproduction or redistribution of the content available on the site. Click here to read the terms and conditions for use of the NewsStand.

What do I do if I lose or forget my password?

Go to the NewsStand log-in page and click on the "Forgot Password" link. You'll then be asked to submit your user name. Once that's done, you'll quickly receive an e-mail with directions on how to recover your password.

How can I view what I've charged to my account?

When you make a purchase, you'll receive an e-mail confirming what you've bought.
